ILMEA District 6 Senior Orchestra Festival


Make sure you know ALL of the music before the festival:  Carmen Suites 1 & 2:  mvts. 1, 1a, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11  

Since most of you are in 4th hour, I’ll rehearse you on the Carmen Suites during 4-C section of orchestra.

The ILMEA festival fee is $20.00 and is due by Monday, October 28.  Please make checks payable to Alton H.S. 

We will bus you to SIU-Carbondale.   Parents are to take you home after the concert.   

Arrive at AHS by 4:30 a.m.
Bus leaves at 4:45.


  • Money for lunch, dinner, snacks, and a water bottle. 
  • Folding music stand.
  • Pencil.
  • Mutes (strings)
  • Extra strings if you have them.
  • Percussion equipment (Fletcher).

You are NEVER late to any rehearsal or the concert.  
Being late will jeopardize your selection to All-State.  

Absolutely no gum, food or drinks of any kind in the rehearsal or performance venues.  Only water.

Your cell phone is turned off during all rehearsals and during the concert.  No texting of any kind. No matter what you see others do, you know the expectations for rehearsal and concert etiquette.

All school rules apply at all times.   I expect you to represent Alton High School and our community with outstanding manners, respect, and pride at all times.

SIU-Carbondale and ILMEA are not responsible for items lost, damaged or stolen.  Please leave valuables at home and keep a close eye on the personal items you do bring.

Concert Dress:  Your Symphonic Orchestra concert attire (dresses/tuxes)

Normal school clothes for rehearsal.

Junior & Senior Orchestra Concert:  5:00 p.m. in Shryock Auditorium in Altgeld Hall (the building that looks like a castle.)  Junior Orchestra performs first while Senior Orchestra watches from the balcony.  

There is a $5.00 concert admission for adults and children 13 and older.  Senior citizens and children 12 and under are free.
