Band Update – 9/24/18

Hello!

WOW! What a weekend! I think a majority of us are still walking on air!

Thanks for being flexible with our late night – we stopped loading the trailer so all could attend awards, so finishing that up resulted in leaving later than expected, our snack/bathroom stop took longer than anticipated, and then add a bus with a check engine light on the way home, and that equals 3am! Please know that we always try to take care of the kids!

Please don’t forget about the Disney Photo Orders – we need about 20 more orders to meet the minimum needed! You can find more info/place the order here – Disney Photo Order. Please have the form filled out and turn in payment by Wednesday!

Please mark your calendars! Our Disney Trip Departure Meeting will be at 7pm on October 17 in the AHS Auditorium. Please make sure at least one person from your family is present!

Also, if your student is planning for auditioning for the ILMEA District Band/Jazz Band on Monday, October 8, please send in the $8 audition fee by Wednesday! Thanks!

Here’s our week:

  • Monday, September 24 – M100 Percussion rehearsal – 3:15-5pm
    • Jazz Band – 3:30-4:30
    • ABOB Meeting – 7pm, AHS Orchestra Room
  • Tuesday, September 25 – Full M100 Rehearsal – 3:30-5:30pm
  • Thursday, September 27 – Full M100 Rehearsal – 3:30-5:30pm
  • Friday, September 28 – Homecoming Football v. Belleville East – 5:45, Public School Stadium.
    • Seniors will be riding in the parade beforehand – they should carpool between West/AMS (some drop their car at West then get a ride to AMS… they can then take folks back to AMS to get their car after the game.
      • Please plan ahead! They will need their shoes, socks, show shirt, instrument with them at West!
      • In order to participate, seniors MUST turn in a Hold Harmless Agreement to us before the parade. We will have to yank them if they don’t have it! We’ll give them copies today, but here’s a printable one: Hold Harmless Agreement (1)
  •  Button Days – Saturday, September 29 – just in the morning! We’ll have various locations around town! Sign up sheets are on the band room door.
Marching 100 Parents: HELP NEEDED!!!
Our Button Day fundraiser will be on Saturday, September 29th. One day only because of the Homecoming Game that Friday night. Many of you and your kids may be busy that day getting ready for the Homecoming Dance, but I am hoping that I can find 11-12 adults who are willing to chaperone a 2-hour shift. Here are the available locations and times:
Mr. Donut: 7-9 am, 9-11 am
Joe K’s: 8-10 am, 10-noon
Eppel’s Pantry: 9-11 am, 11 am – 1pm
Walmart Grocery Side: 9-11 am, 11 am – 1pm
Walmart Home & Garden Side: 9-11 am, 11 am – 1pm
Alton Farmers Market: 9 am-noon

  • Friday, October 12 – Football v. Granite City – 5:45pm, Public School Stadium
  • Saturday, October 13 – Bi-State Marching Invitational – Potosi, MO. I know many students will take the PSAT that morning. We’ll plan carpools – we’ll get a list of who is taking it next week!

ILMEA/AHS Band Audition Info – we’re getting information out about this early! All band students are encouraged to try out for ILMEA (district honor band), but it is not required. However, the audition is the same as the audition for concert bands here, so it doesn’t hurt to try! Here’s the info:

Disney Trip Info:

Final invoices should be going out this week, after all fundraising is deposited!
As of 9/2, students should have $1075 in their trip accounts. The final payment is due on 10/2.
If you need special arrangements/need to make payments later, please be in touch with Music Travel – they’ll work with you, but need communication! Email Ben Hilmer – ben.hilmer@musictravel.com to make arrangements.

All fundraising has ended for the trip! Anything turned in after this point will go towards the 2020 trip. Funds were double checked and mailed last week (week of 9/10)!
