Band Update – 3/14/16

Thank you, thank you!!! To all who attended/donated/helped with the ABOB Dinner Auction Saturday night! What a fun evening. A special thank you to those who went in on the Gotham Shield so we can get it hung in the band room 🙂

Up next – A bit of a lighter week:

  • Marching 100 Pancake Breakfast/ABOB Vendor Fair – Saturday, 3/19 –  Students are selling tickets to the pancake breakfast (first trip fundraiser!). Click here for more information.
    • Some last minute reminders for Saturday:
      1) All money AND unsold tickets will be due *this* Friday, March 18th, by the end of school. Turn in to Ms. Cudney or Ms. Davis, OR, if you’re child is still at AMS, Mr. Jarden. Ms. Cudney will be at the middle school on Friday as well.
      2) If you are in need of additional tickets, please have your child get in touch with Ms Cudney, or you can email me at, or text/call 618-616-2892, and I will get the tickets to you.
      3) Please remember – only pre-sale tickets will count toward your child’s trip find! Tickets CAN be purchased at the door Saturday, but funds raised by those tickets will go into the general trip fund.

  • We will need parent and student workers to help this weekend!
    • Friday (Student Help Needed) – 3:15 – 5:00:  tape off booth spaces, set up tables
      5:00 – 7:30:  allow vendors and crafters to move in
      *Students who work from 3:15 – 7:30 will get pizza!!!!
    • Saturday (Parents & Students Needed) – 7:30am – 2pm – we’ll have a lovely assortment of jobs here – take tickets, refill/make coffee & tang, wipe tables, sell snacks, serve sausage, help vendors move out, etc.
    • Parents – please email me if you can help out! Students will have a sign up sheet on the band room door.
  • AMS & AHS Winterguards has their last local contest this Saturday, March 19 at O’Fallon (IL) High School – AMS performs at 10:21am and AHS performs at 1:48pm.

Future Planning:

  • A shameless plug: Tuesday, March 22, the St. Louis Brass Band (I play in it, as does Justin Duvall and Ryan Helenthal) will be playing with Karin Bliznik (Principal Trumpet of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra) at the Sheldon. It’s going to be a fantastic concert! It’s a great Fine Arts Critique opportunity! Tickets will be $10 at the door – click here for more information.
  • AMS & AHS Winterguards to Springfield, MO for MCCGA Championships – April 1-3. More information TBA.
  • Jazz on a Spring Evening will be Thursday, April 7 at 7pm in the AMS Annex Cafeteria. The AMS and AHS jazz bands will play.
  • IHSA Organizational Contest will be Friday, April 15 at O’Fallon High School. Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band all play – this is our “state” contest each year. If you have any questions, please let Ms. Cudney or Ms. Davis know.
